iOS beta

Joining through TestFlight

  1. Install TestFlight from the App Store. Apple uses it to run every iOS beta.
  2. On your iPhone, tap the public beta link: testflight.apple.com/join/Wab2AKJM. It opens TestFlight and shows the Accept screen.
  3. Tap Accept, then Install. InIndy lands next to your other apps.

Open the link on the iPhone you want to test on. TestFlight invites are tied to the device that accepts them. Opening the link on a Mac or in a desktop browser will not work.

Seats are limited. Apple caps every public TestFlight link at 10,000 testers. If the link says the beta is full, email brian.walker@inindy.co and we'll make room.

Builds expire every 90 days. TestFlight will notify you when a new build is ready. Open TestFlight and tap Update to stay on the latest version.

Android beta

Installing the APK

  1. Download the InIndy APK. See release notes and checksum.
  2. Your browser will ask for permission to install unknown apps. Grant it. This is a per-app Android permission, and you can revoke it afterward.
  3. Open the downloaded file and install.

We're working on releasing the Android version on the Google Play Store. In the meantime, users must download the official app from our GitHub page. Nonetheless, you'll always be able to find the latest builds here.

Play Protect will probably warn you. Google flags anything not installed from the Play Store. Tap “More details” and then install anyway. If you would rather verify first, the SHA-256 checksum is published on the release page.

Uninstall the beta before installing the Play Store version. The two are signed with different keys, so the upgrade will fail with a signature error otherwise. Anything stored only on the device will be lost. Your account and posts are on the server and will come back when you sign in again.

The app will not auto-update. There is no store connection, so new builds have to be downloaded manually. Watch the releases page, or the email you got with the build.

Obtainium is a free, open-source app that watches a project’s GitHub releases and tells you when there’s a new build.

  1. Install Obtainium from GitHub, F-Droid, or IzzyOnDroid.
  2. Open it and tap Add App.
  3. Paste https://github.com/BrianJr03/InIndyApp and tap Add.

Obtainium will now check for new InIndy builds and send you a notification when one lands. Tap it to install.
